Job Description
As a Household Aid/Worker Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing housekeeping, cleaning, and maintenance activities within your assigned hospital or district. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervision of Housekeeping and Cleaning Services: Ensure all areas under your supervision are clean, tidy, hygienic, and safe. You will supervise the use and maintenance of cleaning equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and effectively utilized.
- Stock and Equipment Management: Maintain accurate records of stock levels and equipment used in your area of work. You will be responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, and controlling stock, as well as conducting regular stock takes.
- Hazard Identification and Compliance Monitoring: Identify potential hazards within buildings and offices, particularly those related to fire and electricity. You will ensure compliance with infection control and hygiene regulations, as well as adherence to instructions regarding the use and storage of materials and equipment.
- Supervision of Staff and Resources: Allocate tasks to staff, develop duty rosters, and monitor staff performance. You will conduct performance reviews, inspire and motivate your team, and manage disciplinary processes when necessary.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Educational Requirements: A Matric/Senior Certificate is required.
- Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in housekeeping or cleaning services.
- Competencies: Proficiency in computer skills, strong communication, numerical, organizational, and supervisory abilities. The ability to work under pressure and handle shifts, including on public holidays, is essential.
